Woman and teenagers badly injured in Nantwich A530 road accident

A woman and two teenagers are in hospital after a serious road accident in Newhall, Nantwich.

The accident happened when a car and HGV lorry collided on the A530 Whitchurch Road.

The 37-year-old woman driving a silver Ford Mondeo away from Nantwich suffered serious head injuries and is in a serious by stable condition in North Staffordshire Hospital.

Her two passengers, an 18-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy suffered minor injuries. They were also taken to North Staffordshire Hospital.

All three of the injured are from Shrewsbury.

The incident, which happened at about 5.30pm last night (June 21), forced police to close the road in both directions while emergency services recovered the casualties.

Diversions were set up from the Park Road end of the A530/A529 junction in Nantwich, causing disruption in the town during peak hour.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone with information should contact Eastern Operational Support Unit on 101 quoting incident number 773 of 21 Junes 2012.


Man trapped in serious road accident on Nantwich Road

A driver was trapped after a serious car accident closed off Nantwich Road in both directions.

Fire crews from Crewe and Nantwich were called to the scene at the junction with Mill Street, Crewe.

It involved two cars, and the accident left one man trapped in his vehicle.

Crews helped paramedics remove him from the vehicle who was then taken to Leighton Hospital.

Police closed the road in both directions while rescue work went ahead, causing long delays in the town.

The accident happened shortly before 1.30pm today (June 26).

Police launch appeal after serious road accident at Weston

Nantwich drivers who witnessed a serious road accident at Weston are urged to contact police.

The crash, which happened on the A5020 Weston Road, near to Crewe Hall, involved two cars.

A black Vauxhall Corsa car was travelling along the A5020 Weston Road towards Crewe when it was in collision with a red Skoda Favorite car at the junction of Main Road.

The driver of the Corsa, a 45-year-old local woman was taken to Leighton Hospital with suspected leg injuries.

She is in a stable condition.

The driver of the Skoda, a 24-year-old local man, was unhurt.

The road was closed in both directions while emergency services worked at the scene at around 8.15pm last night (June 26).

Cheshire Police are appealling to anyone with information to contact the Eastern Operational Support Unit by dialing the public none emergency number 101.

Motorists injured after A530 road smash in Aston, Nantwich

Several people were injured and a major road closed off after an accident in Nantwich.

It happened at the Wrenbury Road junction with the A530 Whitchurch Road on Sheppenhall Lane in Aston, Nantwich.

The accident involved two vehicles, a grey Volvo S80 and a blue Vauxhall Insignia.

Paramedics, police and fire crews attended the scene at around 7pm last night (July 22) and the road was closed for a short period to allow for treatment to casualties and clearance of wreckage.

The dirver and passenger of each vehicle received minor injuries and were taken to Leighton Hospital.

The cause is unclear. Any witnesses can contact Cheshire Police in 101.

Police close busy Nantwich road after two-car accident

A woman was badly injured after an accident at a busy Nantwich road junction today.

The two-vehicle collision happened at the junction of the A5301 Peter de Stapleigh Way and the A51 London Road/Elwood Way, in Stapeley.

Emergency services closed off Peter de Stapleigh Way to traffic heading away from the Audlem Road end of Nantwich from about 6.45am.

Paramedics and fire and rescue crews were also called to help free and treat the injured.

A police spokeswoman said the woman, in her 40s, was taken to Leighton Hospital suffering back and leg injuries.

The collision involved a red Skoda Citigo and a white Seat Leon.

Both cars were removed from the scene and debris cleared from the road which re-opened at about 8.30am.

LATEST… M6 in Cheshire shut after crash traps woman and children

The M6 was closed in Cheshire today after a serious accident left a woman and two children trapped in their car.

The incident happened on the southbound carriageway just before junction 19.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue crews were called out at around midday to the collision scene.

A spokesman said the incident involved three cars.

One woman and two children were trapped in the vehicles.

Crews released the three casualties and handed them to the care of the ambulance service.

Motorists are being advised to avoid that stretch of the M6 as the closure caused long tailbacks.

Two trapped under car after A534 accident in Faddiley

Two people were trapped under a car after a collision on a busy road near Nantwich.

The accident involved a motorbike and a car on the A534 Wrexham Road in the village of Faddiley.

Fire crews were called out to find two casualties trapped under the car.

They were released using airbags to lift the vehicle and treated at the scene by paramedics.

The incident closed the road on Saturday (October 27) at around 12.30pm.

Two police officers are in hospital after their marked vehicle was involved in a road accident in Nantwich.

Cheshire Police confirmed the accident happened at the traffic lights junction of Beam Street, Barony Road and Millstone Lane.

It’s believed there were no other vehicles involved although details are sketchy at this stage.

The accident led to the closure of the busy Beam Street near the Crescent Garage during peak hour this morning (November 7) as investigators recovered the vehicle.

The driver and passenger were taken to Leighton Hospital. It’s not clear whether their injuries are serious.

A police spokeswoman said the police car involved has been recovered and that roads should be reopened “imminently”.

Two people seriously injured in A49 accident near Ridley

A couple suffered serious injuries in a road accident on the A49 near Ridley.

The collision closed the Tarporley Road in both directions at Bradley Green, north of Whitchurch, causing traffic chaos.

Two cars were involved, and a man and woman were taken to North Staffordshire Hospital with serious injuries at around 7.45am today (November 29)

Police, fire and the air ambulance attended the scene. The A49 was closed whilst the vehicles were removed from the scene. The road has now fully reopened.

Witnesses or anyone with information in relation to this incident is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 121 of 29 November.

There were also long tailbacks earlier after an accident on the A51 between the Red Fox and Bunbury Mill.

Police had to close the road in both directions between the Bluestone lights at Acton and the Tarporley crossroads.

Cheshire East highways re-opened the road at around 2pm.

Two people had to be rescued from the wreckage of a car accident near Nantwich.

The accident involved a car and light goods vehicle on the A534 at Ridley.

The air ambulance and four fire crews, including one from Nantwich, were called to the scene.

Cheshire Police had to close the busy Nantwich to Wrexham road while rescues took place.

Two casualties were cut free from the car and treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

Police are investigating how the accident happened at around 3.30pm on Sunday December 23.

Nantwich man, aged 66, dies in London Road collision

A man died after an accident on London Road in Nantwich which closed the busy route for several hours.

Cheshire Police say the 66-year-old victim, a local man, was declared dead at the scene near the junction with Stapeley Terrace.

The collision involved two vehicles at about 1.25pm today (January 10).

Police closed the road off in both directions at the junctions withn Elwood Way and Churche’s Mansion while the wreckage was cleared. It’s not clear at this stage if anyone else was injured.

The road is now open again.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident or anyone with information to contact them on 101 quoting incident number 353 of 10 January.

 

 

Car blaze leaves one injured on Nantwich Road, Wrenbury

A man was injured after a road accident near Nantwich, left one vehicle in flames.

The accident happened on Nantwich Road in Wrenbury and fire crews were called out to tackle the car blaze.

No one was trapped in the vehicle but one person was injured and treated at the scene by paramedics.

Fire officers said the saloon car was well alight when they arrived and crews had to use breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to put out the blaze.

The incident happened at about 10.15pm yesterday (Wednesday April 3).

Nantwich teenager seriously injured in A51 motorbike smash

A teenage motorcyclist was seriously injured in an accident on the A51 near Alpraham, Nantwich.

The 18-year-old, from Alpraham, was airlifted to hospital after the incident near the Travellers Rest pub.

Police say no other vehicle was involved but need witnesses to come forward to find out how the victim fell from his red Honda 125cc bike.

The incident happened at about 4.20pm yesterday (July 6) as the motorcyclist was riding towards Nantwich.

Police closed the A51 to allow an air ambulance  to land and take the injured man to North Staffordshire Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

His next of kin have been informed and are with him at hospital.

The A51 was closed from the Red Fox Traffic Lights /A51 Bunbury Road. It remained closed for over four hours, re-opening at 8.55pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses and are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident itself, or who may have seen the motorcyclist prior to the incident occurring as he travelled along the A51 in the direction of Nantwich.

Young girl injured in accident outside Nantwich primary school

A young girl was injured when she was in collision with a car outside a Nantwich primary school.

The youngster, believed to be aged 7 or 8, was hit by the wing mirror of a car outside Pear Tree Primary in Pear Tree Field, Stapeley.

She was taken to Leighton Hospital by paramedics suffering from minor injuries including cuts and bruises.

The driver was shaken but unhurt.

The accident happened at about 4.45pm today (Monday, July 15).

“A girl and a car were in collision as she stepped off the kerbside,” said a police spokeswoman.

“Thankfully she has suffered only minor injuries.”

 

Police name schoolboy, 15, killed in South Cheshire road accident

A teenage schoolboy has died after a road accident in South Cheshire.

Sam Nutsford, 15, was riding his bike when he was in collision with a car on King Street, in Middlewich.

The car, a silver Vauxhall Insignia, was being driven by a 52-year-old man from Northwich.

The collision happened on the Northwich-bound carriageway of King Street.

Sam NutsfordSam (pictured), of King Street, and a pupil at Middlewich High School, died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

No arrests have been made.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the accident which happened at about 5.20pm last night (August 12).

A busy Nantwich road has been closed after a two-car accident.

The A530 between Nantwich and Leighton Hospital is closed in both directions in Willaston.

The accident happened between the Wistaston Green Road junction and the Colleys Lane junction.

Long tailbacks are expected and motorists are advised to find alternative routes.

It’s not clear if anyone was injured in the incident.

Crewe & Nantwich rugby star breaks neck in freak tackle accident

A Crewe & Nantwich RUFC player is battling to save the use of his legs after a freak accident on the pitch.

Vagrants star Kieran Flynn (pictured) broke his neck in a horror tackle during a pre-season clash against Christleton.

The injury left Kieran without the use of his legs and he is now being treated by specialists at Oswestry Hospital.

Rugby players, fans and other names from the sporting world have rallied round to offer their support.

On Twitter, Kieran wrote: “Guys, I just want to say, thank you all so much for your kind messages during this difficult time.It really does mean so much to me.”

Jon Cockburn, Crewe & Nantwich RUFC chairman, said: “On a positive note he does have some tingling sensations in his legs, which we can only see as a positive.

“The full extent of his injuries are still unknown but progress is being made.

“A number of professional players/clubs from all sports have already contacted him and any messages from yourselves or others will would help to keep up his spirits up.

“The challenge ahead is to keep him motivated long term. The RFU have been fantastically supportive to both Kieran and his family.

“And the Injured Players Foundation (IPF) has been second to none in the service they have already given and immediately provided him with an iPad which has proved invaluable in keeping him in contact with friends and family.

“We appreciate it is going to be a long road to recovery but his ambition is to be at the ground for the last game of the season.

“Let’s hope and pray that will be the case.

“As a club, Crewe & Nantwich RUFC are very grateful to the support already shown by individuals/other clubs and the RFU and your future support would be greatly appreciated in keeping his motivation/recovery going.”

Man cut free after car and lorry smash on A51 near Nantwich

A man was injured after a car and lorry collided on the A51 near Nantwich.

The accident happened on Nantwich Road in Wardle, and left the man trapped in his vehicle.

Fire crews from Nantwich and Tarporley were called to the scene at about 6.20am today (September 27).

They cut the victim free from the wreckage and paramedics treated him at the scene before taking him to hospital.

 

Three-car A534 accident in Nantwich causes traffic delays

A three-vehicle road accident caused delays in Nantwich town centre.

No one was injured in the crash which happened at Spring Gardens on Hospital Street.

Three cars were involved in the incident on the A534, involving a Seat Leon, Vauxhall Corsa and Peugeot 206.

Paramedics and police were on the scene, but no one required hospital treatment.

The accident happened at about 9am today (November 6) and caused delays in and out of Nantwich for some time.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: “Thankfully no one was injured, but it caused some disruption.”

Cyclist killed in lorry incident on A530 at Aston, Nantwich

A lorry driver involved in a collision on the A530 near Nantwich which killed a cyclist, failed to stop at the scene, say police.

The crash happened close to Baddeley Bridge on Whitchurch Road in Aston.

The lorry and cyclist were travelling from Nantwich towards Whitchurch, at the time of the collision.

The lorry did not stop at the scene and is believed to have continued towards Whitchurch. It was light-coloured with blue or green markings on the side.

Paramedics were called but the cyclist was declared dead at the scene.

Police closed the road in both directions for most of the day after the incident which happened at about 1.40pm yesterday (November 12).

Officers have carried out door to door enquiries in the area to see if anyone saw the lorry before or after the accident. They are also checking CCTV and security cameras.

The incident comes just a few days after the Road Safety Foundation charity declared the A530 between Nantwich and Burleydam as the fifth most dangerous stretch in Britain.

Latest accident figures showed 23 deaths on the 8-mile route between 2007 and 2011.

Anyone who witnessed what happened or has any information, which might assist officers with their enquiries, is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 453 of 12 November.
